Shree Prannath Arogya Trust was formed in 1993. It runs the multi speciality hospital on Ved Road, a school of nursing, a temple, athithi bhavans and a number of other community institutions in Surat.
The hospital is the largest thing the trust does, but it is not the only thing, and it is not run the way a private hospital is run. The trust's decision that the hospital would operate on a no profit, no loss basis is why a general OPD consultation includes the medicine for that day, and why the same rate applies to every patient in a given category, with nothing to be gained by negotiating at the counter.
