In short

Is cashless treatment available?

Yes, under Mukhyamantri Amrutum, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and ESIC, and through mediclaim insurers and third party administrators. Bring the card: it is verified before admission rather than at discharge, so you know what is covered before treatment begins.

  • Cashless under three government schemes
  • Mediclaim and TPA empanelled
  • Verified before admission

Before admission

What to bring

Cashless admission depends on the insurer authorising it, so the sooner the counter has your documents, the sooner that process starts.

  • The mediclaim policy document or policy number
  • Your TPA card, if you have one
  • Photo identification for the patient
  • Any pre-authorisation already issued by the insurer
  • Earlier prescriptions and reports
  • The treating doctor's advice note, for a planned admission

How a cashless admission runs

  1. At the counter. Present the policy and TPA card. The counter checks eligibility before admission rather than at discharge.
  2. Pre-authorisation. The hospital sends the request to the insurer or TPA. Approval is theirs to give, not the hospital's.
  3. During the stay. Anything the policy does not cover is charged at the hospital's published rate, the same rate as for any other patient.
  4. At discharge. The settled portion goes to the insurer. You settle the remainder, and you should be told what it is before discharge rather than after.

The empanelment list

A list a patient cannot read is not useful to them.

What this page needs from the hospital

  • Named list of empanelled insurers
  • Named list of TPAs
  • Typical pre-authorisation turnaround
  • Who to contact at the hospital about an insurance query

Until that arrives this page stays deliberately short rather than carrying content nobody can stand behind. If you need any of it now, call 0261 2510050 and ask.

How a cashless admission runs

  1. Bring the card with you. Along with identification and any previous records.
  2. The counter verifies before admission. Not at discharge. You know where you stand going in.
  3. The scheme rate applies. Rather than the hospital's own rate.
  4. You are told what is not covered. Before it is incurred, not afterwards.

Verifying a card at discharge instead of at admission is how families end up with a bill they were never warned about. It is checked first here.
